New Jersey Legislative District 21, one of 40 in the state, encompasses municipalities from Morris County, Somerset County and Union County. As of the 2000 United States Census, the district had a population of 215,342. The new District 21 is a result of the 2011 New Jersey Legislative Redistricting based on the 2010 United States Census. Due to redistricting, Millburn (Essex County), Chatham Township (Morris County), Harding (Morris County) and Madison (Morris County) are no longer in District 21. Chatham Borough (Morris County), Bernards (Somerset County), Far Hills (Somerset County) and Kenilworth (Union County) are now part of District 21.
The district is represented in the New Jersey Senate by Senator Thomas Kean, Jr. and in the New Jersey General Assembly by Assemblyman Jon Bramnick and Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz.
